If you've made your way to this website, then you most likely are a dance lover.  And perhaps a history buff as well.  

 

I'm Janet Collard, a long time dancer, choreographer and teacher originally from the San Francisco Bay Area. This website serves as the online profile for the podcast and blog (d)ancestors, and is a space to consume information about dance artists of the past, and perhaps learn something new about them.  As a dance historian, dance reenactor and dance reconstructor I'm interested in the unique corporeality these artists impressed upon the world and how they have added to the greater dancing vocabulary and dialogue at large.  

Excavating the lives and work of these dance artists I hope to shed new light on well known and lesser known dancers throughout time, gaining deeper insight from a 21st century perspective.
